Meet Brian Murphy CONTACT US
Brian Murphy started American Furniture Design and Murphy's Fine Woodworking over 35 years ago, American Furniture Design was sold in 2017 to Lee Valley Tools, in Canada. American Furniture Design was the 3rd largest woodworking plan company in the states.
Brian is recognized as a leader in the Arts and Crafts design discipline. His furniture is in galleries from Muncy, Pennsylvania and throughout the country.
He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work and continues to design in a bold new style. In 2008 he was awarded First Honourable Mention in the Custom Working Business Magazine, a National Contest for residential furniture. In 2012 he was among the top 3 in the same national contest and in 2016. In 2017 he placed in residential furniture for a contest sponsored by Woodworking Network National.
In 2015 he was awarded the Escondido City Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts. He was awarded by the California State Senate a Special Certificate of Recognition from Joel Anderson in 2016. In 2020 he was awarded by the California State Assembly a Certificate of Recognition by Marie Waldron of the 75th District He has been recognized in numerous magazines and has been featured on the cover of a new book by Taunton Press.
He is presently the past Chairman for the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, which he joined in 2004 and served as Chairman in 2012 2013. Past Chair of the Escondido Arts Partnership, which he joined in 2004 and served as chairman form 2011 until 2020. Past Chairman of the Escondido Public Art Commission, which he served from 2002 and was Chairman from 2014 until 2019. Past Trustee of the North County Cemetery District from 2001 to 2011. He was the President of the Escondido Sunrise Rotary Club for 2020. Brian resides in Escondido with his wife Nancy. They have two children and three grandchildren.

Rejuvenation Service
MFW now offers a Rejuvenation service for aged MFW pieces. This service is for clients who purchased pieces from us a few years before and want them cleaned up a bit. This is an in-house service.
