Mission Side Board By American Furniture Design

Brian Murphy, of Murphy's Fine Woodworking, has specialized in mission furniture in the Arts and Crafts style for more than 20 years. Through American Furniture Design, Murphy shares plans for his own pieces and represents several other craftsmen who contribute designs to the site.

For his Mission Side Board, Murphy selected quartersawn oak and designed the piece with quadrilinear post construction. Each post consists of four boards, which have been mitered and glued to make the quartersawn flake seem to wrap around the leg.
